This bridge was built to symbolize Franco-Russian friendship in 1891 and bears the name of the Russian Tsar Alexander III. It was built by engineers Jean Résal and Amédée Alby and architects Cassien-Bernard and Gaston Cousin and is now classified as a historic monument.

 

It is one of the most emblematic bridges in the capital due to its architecture and geographical location.
